Al-Ashraf Cultural Centre, 98 Weston Road, Gloucester, GL1 5AX
The Al-Ashraf Cultural Centre is located in the heart of the Barton and Tredworth area of Gloucester. The Centre is based in a three storey derelict former factory owned by the Al-Ashraf Trust. The Trust was engaged in a plan to renovate the factory in stages to create a multi-use community facility. Whilst much had been successfully renovated, the upper floor remained as a large derelict factory floor space.
Overall, the cost of renovating the floor was approximately £100,000. The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust provided £30,000 towards the cost. This has gone towards replacing the asbestos roof with a brand new slate roof, as well as insulation.
Now renovated, the building supports community cohesion, providing a safe environment for sporting and recreational activities.
