Landfill Communities Fund for the benefit of Gloucestershire

Fantastic pavilion heralds new era at Frocester Cricket Club

Press Releases - 04/04/2017

Frocester open the new cricket season with the new pavilion standing resplendent over the ground.

After 5 years of fund-raising and planning, everyone at the club is delighted with the quality of the clubhouse, probably one of the best facilities of its type in the country.

Frocester CC received £14,000 from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust to help fund internal fixtures and fixtures.

Chairman John Evans said "We are delighted to have received a grant from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust. The standard of the internal fittings is exceptional, ensuring the building is a real pleasure to visit. It's also fit for purpose and will be a fantastic facility for many, many years to come.

"The building is being handed over to us on Friday and then we can start using it, not only for cricket, but as a facility available for the local community to use for a wide range of functions and events".

"Thanks to the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, our ambitions are now a reality, even better than we ever hoped!"

Frocester CC also received a grant of £75,000 and an Interest Free Loan of £100,000 from the England Cricketing Board (ECB) and a £75,000 grant from Sport England. A formal opening ceremony will take place in June, where all the contributions will be properly recognised.

The club runs 5 Saturday teams, with the 1st X1 winning WEPL Premier 1 in 2014 and 2015 and were runners-up to Bath last season. There is also a very successful youth structure, with teams of every age and inclusion.

Over the last 12 months, close to £1.5 million has been awarded to community projects in Gloucestershire by the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust.
