Cliffords Mesne Village Hall, Cliffords Mesne, Newent, Gloucestershire, GL18 1JN
The very nature of a village hall is to bring local communities together. It is the hub of social events for people of all ages and Cliffords Mesne village hall is an excellent example of what can be achieved to provide a welcoming environment for the community it serves.
Previously this Village Hall, through inadequate heating and insulation, outside toilets and a lean-to leaking kitchen, became impossible to use during the winter months.
With the completion of the third phase, the hall now provides a more sustainable and energy efficient building with a modernised interior using the latest technology of a solar powered air to air heating system. This will significantly reduce CO2 emissions and running costs. These improvements have dramatically increased hall use as new groups have been encouraged to take advantage of the more comfortable facilities.
The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust has contributed to all three phases of the development of the hall with the last phase being offered £8,462 because Trustees have been encouraged by the efforts of a totally committed local community.
